Forget about all the layers to stay warm, it’s time for the fabrics that don’t radiate heat like chiffon, crochet, and linen.

The crochet Toms almost sold out the first week we got them, which prompted me to make crochet the #trending topic of the week. The classic Toms were given a summer make-over with the crochet Toms. The delicate holes allow your toes to breathe and won’t make your feet sweaty.

I give the Joe shorts by Funktional two thumbs up. Everyone knows that black goes with anything and the crochet detail is perfect for the summer, giving the shorts a casual and lightweight feel. Women’s Wear Daily seems to agree and recently featured the shorts on their own blog.

Finally! Someone has fashioned a book involving two of my favorite things ever, food and design. From cover to content this book is filled with foodie design aesthetics and culture. Gathering projects by 87 artists and designers from around the world, Appetite for Design EAT ME contains recent art creations, social events, packaging, branding, products and environmental design all with a food theme.

This collection really demonstrates how food is as complex as its native people. I’m not just talking about ingredients, or culinary performance, but the way appliances and utensils have evolved along with technologies. The cover was also has a fine representation of food design, as it resembles a chocolate wafer with a bite taken out of it. It’s no surprise that such innovative approaches to food preparation and presentation are breaking the barriers of science, art, and tradition. I love that this book celebrates food and how it’s involved in our daily lives, manifested not only with ingredients but with branding, products, interior design, and art. This is a book you’ll be hungry for!

Shout outs to Julio for hooking me up with headphones because I underestimated the power of headphones until now.

No seriously, BM is one of the few stores to carry this brand in California let alone the US.

Space, the final frontier… and something that man has wondered about since the dawn of time. Lots of us have taken a moment to look up and marvel at the night sky. Moving to the city really hinders that same feeling with all those darn lights. Well now the company Dreams USA Inc. has come up with an awesome product called Projector Dome. These domes project a planetary image on your wall/ceiling. You can have your very own planetarium in your home.

The domes are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and come in a variety of planetary figures. We currently have the planet Earth, Saturn, and the Moon. The Moon being my personal favorite! In an average room the projected image can be 2-3 feet in diameter. The dome also has a sensor at the bottom that reacts to water. So you can bring the dome in while you take a bath and it will project the image as it floats on the surface. As the dome floats along the image will float along with it, bringing a soothing experience for your bath.

For the 15th installment of the ongoing 1-2-1 w/jeffstaple series, JEFF STAPLE the Creative Director of Staple Design and Reed Space sits down for a two-part back and forth with none other than Wu-Tang Clan founding member the RZA. Touching on his introduction to hip-hop, The Abbot discusses the rush he felt when the music took him over – literally rendering him unable to do anything else with his life. Eloquent as always, RZA takes the viewer on a 20-minute investigation that shaped him as both a musician and as a man.

PART 2:

This is insightful for anybody who is chasing their aspirations, RZA came from nothing and became a brilliant composer, not only for WuTang, but for film as well. KEEP PURSUING YOUR DREAMS PPL!
